EAC explicitly blocks VM launch with error: "Cannot run under Virtual Machine." Previously worked under Hyper-V for an extended period before being blocked. A brief window existed where the block was lifted, then re-enforced shortly after.
Fortnite was playable in Hyper-V until ~5 months ago when EAC introduced active VM detection. The block also affects Shadow PC (cloud gaming). No workaround confirmed. Previously described as running "almost as well as directly on hardware" before the block. Based on community reports. Not personally verified.
Four requirements to pass EAC: (1) Disable hypervisor CPU flag, (2) Disable KVM state, (3) Enable Hyper-V enlightenments with vendor_id GenuineIntel or OriginalAMD, (4) Set SMBIOS mode to sysinfo. Secure Boot enabled in VM via edk2-ovmf + virt-firmware. Nested virtualization required. AMD equivalent: replace VMX with SVM, use OriginalAMD as vendor_id.
Method works for Windows VMs only, not Linux VMs. No performance degradation reported despite disabled hypervisor CPU flag. Based on community reports. Not personally verified.
